With the communication and transmission of global culture,the importance of studying English is becoming increasingly significant.As the country is paying more attention to the quality education in primary schools and the in-depth reform of the English curriculum,the effect of conservative “spoon-feeding” teaching method in English teaching of primary school is declining.Since the “spoon-feeding”teaching method has been challenged,the author began to explore some new teaching methods,of which game teaching is one method.Interest is the best teacher for students to learn a foreign language,and game is a main way to arouse students' interest and promote students' situational learning.In this context,this paper aimed to solve the following three problems:(1)Could the implementation of game teaching improve students' interests in learning?(2)Could game teaching improve students' English scores in English class teaching of primary school?(3)Based on data analysis and research,what are the suggestions for primary school English teachers and primary schools?This paper summarized the relevant theories of the development of game teaching through literature research,and studied the effect of game teaching on the primary school classroom teaching by using questionnaire,interview and experiment methods.Finally,through studying the actual effect of game teaching on 110 students in class(2)and class(3)of a primary school in Hefei,this paper draw the following conclusions:(1)Applying game teaching in class teaching could improve the students' interest in English learning and their efficiency of learning.(2)From the analysis of the questionnaire data after the teaching experiment,most students like game teaching in class.(3)Proper use of game teaching could help students learn and improve their English scores.Therefore,in view of the above research results,the author put forward the following teaching suggestions.Firstly,the teachers should strengthen their knowledge reserve about game teaching and establish a good relationship between teachers and students.Secondly,teachers should fully prepare lessons before class,including preparation for the students,the teaching materials and teaching methods.In class,teachers should improve the participation of students and strengthen the management of classroom discipline at the same time to ensure the smooth implementation of game teaching in class,and make summary and reflection afterclass in time.Finally,the support of the school is also very important.
