Nowadays,the world economy has gained a boom with economic globalization providing a valuable chance for various industries like shipping industry to seek for an even prosperous development.Under the context of ever-deepening integration of countries,translation work has become necessary for efficient operation of a company.The thesis takes Management Manual of ABC Cruise Company as text to carry out translation practice.This text belongs to official maritime document with technical background and long and complex sentences.Frequent occurrence of non-finite verbs represents another obvious feature of the text.Based on the Skopos Theory and translation practice,the author summarizes translation approaches for non-finite verbs in the text,including Conversion of Elements,Inversion,Conversion of Part of Speech,Omission,and Amplification.In the translation process,the author takes Skopos Theory as the primary guidance and attends to realize an intra-textual coherence at the same time in order to manage better acceptance for target readers.The author has a further understanding of translation approaches for non-finite verbs through the translation practice.In addition,better subject knowledge of maritime English has been acquired and the improvement of translation ability has been achieved as well.This report is presented for possible reference for similar translation work in the future.
