This report is based on the translation practice of the four chapters in the book Christmas at the Vicarage, written by the British writer Rebecca Boxall.Although China's translation industry started in the 1970 s and 1980 s,it has become a hot market in recent years. As we all know, there are usually many non-finite verbs in different kinds of texts. However, the study of non-finite verbs is mostly at the grammatical level, not on their translation. It doesn't have specific theories about the translation of non-finite verbs neither at home nor abroad. So it is necessary to reinforce the knowledge of this aspect. The translation industry will experience an unprecedented change, becoming more mature and dynamic. In the process of translating the first three chapters of this book, there are about 30 sentences which refer to the gerund,60 sentences which refer to the infinitive,80 sentences which refer to the present participle and less than 10 sentences which refer to the past participle according to figures. Therefore, regarding the translation of the non-finite verbs as the breakthrough point, the report analyzes the components they act as in the sentences from the point of the present participle, the infinitive and the gerund, and summarizes several common types.Besides, the translation strategies of non-finite verbs are explored with the guidance of three principles of skopos theory proposed by Hans Fermi, including the methods of component conversion, amplification, adjustment of word order, literal translation and so on.The use of non-finite verbs is one of the most common situations in English, and the research will help translators have a better understanding of the original text, thus promoting the exchange of ideas and cultures. In addition, the non-finite verbs are often applied to the field of economy and technology.Since the economic or technological article tends to completely and accurately explain some concepts, the text must avoid using a large number of complicated sentence structures and ignore the verb tenses.Only non-finite verbs are easy to implement these requirements. Therefore, the study of the translation of non-finite verbs can promote the development of economy and technology.
