Interpretation Strategies Of Vague Language In Business Interpreting Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

Currently,with the rapid development of economic globalization,China has become the second largest economy and the largest trading nation in the world.The closer business ties between China and the rest of the world are,the greater the importance of business interpretation is.Business interpretation is an important activity to provide services to a certain party of interest in business.Vague language is common and the interpretation process is extremely challenging.Therefore,it is particularly crucial to better deal with the vague language in business interpretation and to express the correct intentions of both parties more accurately.Based on Skopos theory proposed by German translator Hans Vermeer and combined with the analysis of cases of interpreting vague language in in Sino-US business negotiations,this thesis aims to explore optimal strategies of vague language and use vague language to correctly process slang information in business activities,which will protect the interests of both parties,promote the smooth running of business activities and boost the development of China's foreign trade.In addition,it is conducive to creating a good business interpretation atmosphere,improving the theoretical research level of business interpretation as well as improving the quality of interpreters' interpretation.This thesis contains Four chapters:Chapter One is a literature review,which introduces the research status of vague language under the guidance of Skopos theory,vague language and business interpretation at home and abroad.Chapter Two is the theoretical framework of Skopos theory,specifically analyzing its origin,development,function and its three principles(coherence,loyalty,and Skopos theory).Chapter Three analyzes the connotation,classification and performance of vague language in business interpretation.This chapter constitutes the most important and difficult parts,which mainly explain how to understand vague language in business interpretation in light of Skopos theory.Chapter Four is a conclusion,introducing the research results,analyzing the remaining limitations in the research of this thesis,giving expectations to the future research on vague language in business interpretation.
