A Report On The Interpreting For 2019 Chinese Football Coaching Program In The UK

This report examines the distinctive features of liaison interpreting and proposes that liaison interpreters should be visible to facilitate interpreter-mediated interactions.The report analyzes the liaison interpreters' role as a co-interlocutor and a figure of empowerment.Based on the visibility of interpreters,the report studies segments of the researcher's interpreting for the Chinese Football Coaching Program in the United Kingdom from June to September 2019 and explores the interpreter's role as a co-interlocutor and a figure of empowerment.As a co-interlocutor,the interpreter adopts interpreting strategies in the interaction such as addition,omission,correction,substitution and communication.Empowerment means that interpreters exercise their bilingual and bicultural expertise to help the disadvantaged party make better informed decisions or take a turn to speak.The researcher makes self-reflection on the interpreting and puts forward suggestions for improvement.The report aims to deepen the understanding of liaison interpreter's visibility and provide theoretical support for liaison interpreting especially in the football field.
