Liaison Interpreter's Visibility In Business Settings

Nowadays,more and more foreign-funded enterprises come to Chinese market,and hence establish various of business relationships with local companies.As business activities are increasing,there is a larger demand for interpreters.Traditionally,an interpreter should be invisible and neutral.However,in some cases,interpreters would be visible consciously and push forward a better understanding between clients by using interpreting strategies consciously.This thesis describes business liaison interpreting task for Sunlabor.The report aims to reveal the interpreter's visibility by analyzing the use of interpreting strategies applied by the author in her interpreting task.Through case analysis in the report,the author discovers that in the interpreting task,an interpreter's visibility consciousness is necessary in the liaison interpreting and the interpreter's total invisibility is impossible.By using different strategies,the interpreter consciously selects information and the meaning the speaker conveyed.
