Research On The Structure Of "Personal Pronoun+Demonstrative+Pronoun+Quantifier+Personal NP"

This paper studies the structure of the “Personal pronoun+Demonstrative pronoun+quantifier +personal NP” in modern Chinese.We find that this structure is an ambiguous structure,it can be an appositive construction or a possessive construction.In addition,the structure often contains the subjective emotion of the speaker when used,especially the “Ni Zhege NP”,which has been constructed,has an obvious subjective evaluation function.For this structure,we first analyzed each structural component,and made a detailed classification of "personal NP".Then we analyzed the semantics of the structure and summarized the structure types when it as an appositive construction and ta possessive construction.In terms of syntactic representation,we find that the structural relationship of the structure has some influence on the syntactic representation: when the structure is an appositive construction,it has stronger ability to form sentences independently or co exists with the modal particles,while the possessive construction has stronger ability to do paragraph topics.In terms of pragmatic characteristics,we believe that the structure has two main pragmatic functions: referential function and expressive function.On the basis of referential function,the structure often realizes discourse functions such as topic function,contrast function and reference function.In addition,in most cases,the structure carries emotional meaning,in which negative meaning is the most,neutral meaning is the second,and positive meaning is the least.Besides,the structural relationship has some influence on the pragmatic function: as for possessive construction,the referential function is the basic function and the main function;as for apposition structure,the referential function is still the basic function,but the main function is expressive function.This paper also makes a special discussion on “Ni Zhege NP”,a prominent sub-structure in the structure of “Personal pronoun+Demonstrative pronoun+quantifier +personal NP”.We think that “Ni Zhege NP” can be regarded as a construction,and the construction meaning is to express subjective evaluation,mainly negative evaluation.Then,the access conditions of “NP” are analyzed,and thelevel of negative evaluation of “Ni Zhege NP” is analyzed from the syntactic representation and the type of “NP”.In addition,we also compared two related structures,in which the subjectivity of "Ni+Zuowei(Yige)NP" structure is weaker than that of "Ni Zhege NP";and the subjective evaluation of “Ni Ge NP” is stronger than that of “Ni Zhege NP”,and explain it from the perspective of accessibility.
