How to teach English writing has always been the focus of the educational research.In the current English writing teaching in junior middle school,efficient teaching strategies and models are relatively limited.At the same time,as writing is a language output task that requires students' comprehensive language ability,many students lack enthusiasm for English writing and even have a fear of English writing tasks.In order to improve this situation and carry out writing teaching better,this thesis tries to apply the cooperative learning to teaching English writing in junior middle school,hoping to provide some new ideas for teaching English writing in junior middle school.Therefore,the research questions of the thesis are:1)How does the application of cooperative learning to English writing class affect students'writing?2)What are the advantages of the application of cooperative learning to English writing class?3)What are the problems of the application of cooperative learning to English writing teaching?How can these problems be solved?Firstly,this thesis systematically sorts out related researches of cooperative learning at home and abroad and discusses the relevant theories of cooperative learning.And then,under the guidance of relevant theories of cooperative learning and writing teaching,this thesis combines cooperative learning with English writing classroom teaching in junior middle school,designs and implements specific steps of teaching English writing.This thesis takes a class of grade one in a junior middle school in Hebei Province as the experimental subjects and conducts a one-semester experiment of cooperative learning in English writing class.Before and after the experiment,questionnaires and teacher-student interviews are used to investigate students' and teachers' attitudes towards writing teaching and their feelings of cooperative learning,and relevant data is collected.Finally,this thesis analyzes the data scientifically and systematically through measurement tools such as SPSS,discusses and summarizes the experimental results.The results of this research show that:1)Applying cooperative learning to English writing teaching can help students reduce their anxiety about writing and improve their writing scores.2)Cooperative learning in English writing teaching in junior high school can stimulate students' interest in writing,improve students'comprehensive ability of listening,speaking,reading and writing,and cultivate students' cooperative awareness.3)The main problems of the application of cooperative learning to English writing teaching are:uneven participation of group members,lack of cooperation skills,and excessive dependence on the mother tongue.Finally,this thesis reflects on the application of cooperative writing to English writing class and then analyzes the problems existing in this application and puts forward some suggestions.
