"Chinese craze" is heating up all over the world,and the influence of Chinese culture is gradually expanding.In succession,scholars have focused on Confucius Institutes in the United States,Russia,Thailand and other countries to investigate and study their cultural communication.However,the Czech Confucius Institute is still lack of research on cultural communication.In this paper,one base of Laswell's 5W model theory and by means of a questionnaire survey and interview,we take the learners of Confucius Institute at Palacky University in Czech Republic("CI" for short)as the research object to explore the effects of CI's Chinese cultural communication.First of all,this paper introduces the basic situation of CI.Chinese teachers are the main part of the teachers' team.The tenure of Chinese teachers is short and the transfer is frequent.All the respondents have no family background of Chinese origin and their occupation structure is relatively simple,mainly young students.Their Chinese language is mainly at the beginning and middle level and their motivation of learning is mainly based on interest and knowledge.The cultural communication channels of CI include courses,cultural activities and online media.The curriculum includes Chinese courses and cultural courses.The Chinese courses have the following characteristics:CI strivines for multi-party cooperation with the local schools,the curriculum is less professional and the Chinese and Czech teachers teach separately.Cultural courses have the following characteristics curriculum and teachers change frequently,teachers teach in English and lay emphasis on skill training.Most of the cultural activities take the form of experience and lecture,which basically meet the interests and needs of Czech respondents.The Chinese-Czech bilingual corner is a typical experience activity in the academic year of 2018-2019,which is well received by the participants.Online media publicity focuses on Facebook,whose post content is mostly related to traditional culture.Many respondents followed the CI on Facebook,but only a few of them check it frequently.Chinese class is the most commonly used channel for interviewees to contact Chinese culture.The preferred teaching language is the sharing of Czech and Chinese.The preferred teaching method is dialogue and debate.Enthusiasm and openness are the most valued characteristics of teachers.The most commonly used Chinese media after class are movies and songs.Books aren't used frequently by Czech respondents and they are interested in books about Chinese culture,tourism and society.In terms of cognition,we surveyed respondents' cognition of Chinese traditional festivals,celebrities,characteristics of Chinese people and three levels of Chinese culture:material,behavior and spirit.In terms of attitude,we surveyed respondents'attitude towards China,going to China and Chinese people as a whole,as well as the attitude towards Chinese culture at the three levels of material,behavior and spirit.The survey of respondents' attitude towards Chinese values was examined in the form of five subscales.Respondents have the highest degree of cognition,preference and acceptance of material culture.Czech respondents showed a high degree of recognition of some Chinese values like "Shu,Civility and Tianrenheyi"? Chinese values.The shared values between Chinese and Czech cultures will be the focus of cultural communication in the future.Finally,according to the results of the investigation,the author puts forward some suggestions on the work of Chinese cultural communication.In terms of the content of communication,we should advance with the times,develop cultural resources in all aspects and avoid "laying more stress on the past than on the present";reasonably spread culture on three levels based on material culture;focus on spreading the shared culture of both sides,seeking common ground while reserving differences.In terms of the way of communication,we should develop different channels to spread Chinese culture in various ways;learn from the experience of other countries' language and culture institutions,build an international vision and emphasize equal cultural exchange and interaction;grasp the cultural differences between China and Czech Republic,and adopt localization strategies.In terms of communication subject,we should pay attention to the professional quality and comprehensive ability of teachers;strengthen the cooperation with local forces;improve the projects to China and support the "bring in" of Chinese culture.
