This translation report takes The Sun Is Also a Star,a novel written by Nicola Yoon,as the source text. The novel tells the love story of Natasha and Daniel.Natasha is 12 hours away from being expelled to Jamaica by America.Daniel was born and grew up in the United States. The novel is not only famous for its exquisite writing, vivid description of the characters, and the rich emotion between words, but also unique for the demonstration of cultural collisions. Therefore, during the translation, these literary effects have to be dealt with care.During the translation, the translator finds that the Skopos Theory, which emphasizes the ?purpose?---the communicative function of the translation in the social and cultural context of the translated human language,is suitable to explain and facilitate the difficulties in this translation project. To represent these features and emotions, the translator adopts a series of translation strategies according to Skopos Theory.Addition and omission are chosen to realize the principle of purpose;division, merging and adjusting the word order are selected to realize the principle of coherence;and literal translation and free translation are used to realize the principle of fidelity.Even though the translation has many flaws,it is hoped to be of some help for future translation of similar texts.
