A Study On The Screening Of Taiyuan Film In Shanxi Province During The Republic Of China(1919-1937)

With the development of modernization,film has been introduced into China.In the call of "rewriting the history of Chinese film",Chinese film scholars at home and abroad want to break through the mainstream discussion of "Shanghai Center" in the theory of Chinese film history.In order to broaden the scope of historical materials of Chinese film research and further enrich and deepen the academic research of early Chinese films,we will invest our academic vision in the vast area outside Shanghai in the hope of broadening the scope of historical materials for the study of Chinese films.This article selects the provincial capital city of Shanxi as the research object,based on the literature and historical data,combs and analyzes the development situation after the film screening entered Taiyuan.This paper attempts to describe the unique pattern of film screening in Taiyuan and the cultural life of local citizens,thus presenting the urban characteristics of Taiyuan,as an inland city,which is different from Shanghai or other coastal cities along the Yangtze River.Taiyuan film screening industry in the Republic of China began in the 1910's and flourished in the 1930's.Throughout the whole process of early film screening in Taiyuan,we can find that: 1)before 1926,Taiyuan film projection was basically a public service act,and then gradually formed a market-oriented operation mechanism.2)after the commercial operation of Taiyuan film screening industry began,Most of the films are mainly made in China.This shows that in the "taste" of the film market,there is a significant difference between Taiyuan and other mainland cities and Shanghai.3)the aesthetic tendency of Taiyuan movie audience is deeply influenced by the local opera culture,which has a long history and develops well,and forms away to adapt to the local people.The local characteristics of cultural and entertainment consumption demand.
