In the 1930 s,the development of Chinese film entered the golden age.After experiencing the vicious commercial competition in the early 1920 s,the reform of juxtaposition and reorganization,the film companies began to adopt standardized and scientific development strategies to establish a new system and development environment for film.The development of film in China has achieved the good unification of art and commerce.With the rapid development of film,film companies realized that stars are an indispensable part of film production,and begin to pay attention to the production and manufacture of movie stars.Under the influence of the maturing growing context,the Chinese film industry began to form a systematic and professional star-making system.In this context,the first batch of Chinese screen stars emerged as the times require,including Jin Yan,Lily Ruen,Li Li-li,Wang Renmei Wang,Kao Chien Fei and other famous movie stars in the history of the Republic of China.Jin Yan was named "Film Emperor" of the Republic of China in the 1930 s.This paper takes him as a case study to explore how his screen image is constructed and presented through its particularity of "Film Emperor".During this period,both the production of Chinese films and the production of movie stars have reached unprecedented prosperity in quantity and quality.This period is also the golden high-yield period of Jin Yan's screen career.His screen image has undergone different changes in this period.In the context of different times,the screen images in the 1930 s can be divided into two types,one is "the youth of the upper class society" and the other is "the war hero under the bottom of society ".The obvious characteristics of the transformation give the screen images of Jin Yan special meaning.Starting from the perspective of star studies,this paper explores the formationprocess of the screen image by means of semiotics and sociology,and probes into the relationship between the inner and outer images of screen and the overlapping or staggering of the inner and outer images of Jin Yan screen combined with the significance of screen as a star image.In the first part of the article,the life of Jin Yan is introduced in detail.The second part focuses on the analysis of the screen image of Jin Yan's "upper-class youth";the third part focuses on the analysis of the screen image of Jin Yan's "the bottom of society youth".
