A Report On English-Chinese Translation Of Prepositions And Prepositional Phrases In Doing Business 2018

Doing Business2018,an information-based and highly specialized business text,is serious in style and strict in logic.The complicated syntactical structures in the text lead to the high frequency of prepositions and prepositional phrases.Therefore,the proper translation of those prepositions and prepositional phrases directly affect the quality of the target text.The report,based on the translation of Doing Business 2018,analyzes the structural characteristics and semantic features of prepositions and prepositional phrases,and discusses the effective translation strategies and methods available in the process of the Chinese translation including omission,amplification,conversion,division,and recasting with the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory.It aims to explore the appropriate way to apply relevant translation theories and techniques in practice so as to make the translation naturally coherent and highly accordant with the norms of the target language,and thus maximize the fulfillment of the communicative goal.
