The author selects the first five chapters of Water Affairs Franchise Agreement to translate.This text belongs to the legal text,which has the stylistic features of accuracy,seriousness and complexity.During the process of translation,in order to fit the characteristics of legal texts,the author uses the functional equivalence theory of Nida as a guide to translate the text into equivalent translations in line with the characteristics of legal text.In the process of translation,the author finds that a large number of prepositional phrases are used in this legal text,including “Yi”,“Zai”,“You” etc.,and these prepositional phrases are also used in sentences with different grammatical functions and pragmatic functions.Therefore,the author focuses on the translation of prepositional phrases in contract text.At the same time,under the guidance of the functional equivalence theory,the author adopts the methods of addition and omission,conversion,inversion and reconstruction to make the wording of the translation to be natural,the meaning of the translation to be the same and finally achieve the functional equivalence of the legal text's features and the legal effect.The author hopes that this translation practice can enlighten the translators of other legal texts and contribute her own strength to the study and practice of legal translation in China.
