In the 1980 s,the development of Chinese animation art has reached an unprecedented height.Because of its distinct national characteristics,Chinese animation art has made great achievements in the world.Our predecessors set up the banner of "Chinese animation school" and led Chinese animation art to win a place in the world.In today's society,the rapid expansion of animation art and technology,coupled with the influx of American and Japanese animation,makes the "Chinese animation school" gradually quiet.The Wind Guardians is a long animated film directed by Liu Kuo.It is an excellent animated work with national style created on the basis of local culture.This article takes the cartoon The Wind Guardians as an example to conduct an indepth study of the use of Chinese traditional cultural elements in modern animated visual art.This paper mainly discusses the application of traditional cultural elements such as traditional theme,modeling,scene and music in The Wind Guardians;and discusses the expression of traditional cultural connotation in The Wind Guardians from the five agents,outlook of nature and concept of filial piety;Finally,it summarizes and analyzes the shortcomings and countermeasures of The Wind Guardians in expressing traditional cultural elements.With the continuous increase of modern multimedia technology,the development prospects of Chinese animation has been paid more and more attention.Chinese traditional painting,paper-cut,shadow play and other art forms provide a successful reference for animation creation.History tells us that only by starting with Chinese traditional elements and striving to weed out the old and bring forth the new,can we show our own style and unique personality.The animated film The Wind Guardians has made a beneficial attempt to use and innovate Chinese traditional culture elements.
