Information and communication technology(ICT)refers to a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate,and to create,disseminate,store,manage and exchange information,which plays an important role in all parts of life.Development Strategies Planning for Education Informatization(2010-2020)states that in order to achieve the goals of education informatization,it is necessary to integrate ICT into teaching,which poses a challenge to teachers ICT competence.In response to the de elopment of ed cation informati ation,teachers must be equipped with adequate ICT competence,College English teachers are no exception.Although education informatization has been carried out in Shandong for many years,the c rrent sit ation of College English teachers ICT competence is not clearl kno n in Shandong.Therefore,the st d of College English teachers ICT competence is cond cted to provide enlightenment for the development of education informatization and the implementation of The Action Plan of Education Informatization 2.0 of Shandong Province(2019-2022).The purpose of the study is to investigate the current situation of ICT competence of College English teachers in Shandong province and to find out factors which have significant impacts on their ICT competence in the integration of ICT into teaching.In present study,the mixed method was taken to carr o t research on College English teachers ICT competence.Two research questions were addressed:(1)What is the level of ICT competence of College English teachers in Shandong Province?(2)What are the factors infl encing College English teachers ICT competence? A total of 255 teachers from 15 universities in Shandong province completed the questionnaires.Later,5 participants from different universities finished the relevant interviews.From the findings,it can be concluded that:(1)In general,College English teachers ICT competence are relatively satisfactory.To be specific,participants show relatively sufficient knowledge and skilled operation of ICT and have positive attitudes towards the integration of ICT into teaching;however,they sometimes do not know how to use ICT to support teaching and cannot create online teaching resources.(2)Influencing factors are categorized into three types,including personal,institutional and policy ones.Specifically,personal factors include professional titles,knowledge and skills,and attitudes;institutional factors include technical support,trainings,and teaching orkload;and polic factors incl de teachers standards and policy support.On the basis of findings,some suggestions are put forward to promote the College English teachers ICT competence.Finall,some limitations of this st dy and suggestions for the future study are proposed.
