Throughout Balthus' works of art,his interest in creation is not to describe the social objective existence of his time, but to show the inner spiritual state of the characters. The female theme is an important part of Balthus' works, especially the maiden theme. The choice of this theme reflects Balthus' unique view of the world. He likes to express the static beauty of young girls,so in his paintings, most of the images of young girls are very quiet, which is very different from the situation that most of the contemporary western artists are keen to depict the bizarre and turbulent real life or inner world. This pater describes the significance and research background of the topic. The first chapter analyzes the formation of Balthus' painting style, including enlightenment, learning and communication.Turning to the second chapter, the pater makes a detailed interpretation of the causes of the image of maidens and the painting language in Balthus' works, which paves the way for the research and analysis in the next chapter. The third chapter focuses on the aesthetic taste of the maiden image in Balthus' works, that is,the expression of erotic freedom, warm consciousness and self-consciousness.The fourth chapter sums up the connotation and value of the image of adolescent girls. The painting works of Balthus are full of artistic personality, perfectly and uniquely showing the mysterious sense of a certain spiritual state unique to adolescent girls, and always showing the most real feelings in people's hearts. The image of the maiden in Barthes' paintings explains the painter's true portrayal of his art and life, and tries to use the symbol of the maiden image to carry his life's artistic pursuit.
