A Report On English-Chinese Translation Of Best Of London 2018(Excerpts)

In recent years,the economic and cultural exchanges between China and other countries around the world have become increasingly frequent,and the international tourism has also been unprecedentedly prosperious.At the same time,there are many kinds of travel guides,and the translation of such text is becoming more and more important.This practice report is an analysis and summary of practice activities based on the translation of Best of London 2018.Tourism translation,as a professional translation,needs to follow appropriate translation criteria.Reiss' text typology mainly divides text into three types,namely,informative text,expressive text,and operative text.In order to fulfill the function of the text it advocates that different translation methods should be chosen according to different text types.This theory plays an important role in guiding the translation of tourism texts.The author of this report combines the text typology with his own translation practice,and discusses the application of the theory in the translation of travel guides.This report consists of five parts.The first part introduces the background information and significance of the project.The second part mainly describes the preparatory work before translation,such as the feature and function of the tourism text,and the current situation of tourism translation research and other related information.The third part introduces Reiss' text typology,and then analyzes the source text in detail from the aspect of lexics,syntax,and rhetoric under the guidance of this theory.The fourth part mainly describes the self-assessment,readers' assessment and supervisor's assessment of this translation practice.In the last part,the author of this report reflects on the shortcomings of this practice,and summarizes the experience,and also expresses his outlook for the future.The author of this report hopes to provide a useful reference for related translation activities.
