A Report On The E-C Translation Of Cambridgeshire Travel Guide

China has witnessed a rapid development of outbound tourism in recent years,Sino-British tourism industry is developing continuously.Therefore,the translation of Chinese and English tourism texts is being put in a very important place.The author is entrusted by Jiuquan International Travel Service of Gansu Province to undertake the translation task of relevant materials for its “Travel to Europe” project.By reviewing relevant background materials and referring to the parallel texts on Sino-British tourism,this translation practice report is formed.This report analyzes the process of accomplishment and illustrates the details of the case analysis of translation practice.In this report,the author selects parts of the Cambridgeshire Travel Guide as original text and practical research object,applying Newmark's text typology theory,semantic translation and communicative translation to guide the translation work and analyze the difficulties in the translation process.This report is composed of five parts,including introduction,task description,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.This report analyzes the wording,phrasing and the language style of the source text as well as parallel texts under the guidance of Newmark's text typology theory and generalizes the major findings and the difficulties in the translation process by adopting communicative translation and semantic translation methods and techniques like shift,addition,annotation,transliteration,word-for-word translation in specific examples.This report is expected to be conducive to the translation research work in tourism texts in the future and to contribute to the prosperity of China's tourism industry.
