As two of the largest developing countries in the world,China and India share great similarities in terms of historical development,population size and economic level.China and India are both big countries in film industry and have made great achievements in film industry.However,there are some differences in the development status and overall competitiveness of the film industry between China and India.This paper firstly sorts out the development course of film industry in China and India,and clarifies the development sequence of film industry in the two countries.This paper further compares the competitiveness of the film industry in China and India.It found that although China has great advantages in terms of the total box office and the number of screens,but it is far behind India in terms of domestic market development and overseas market performance.For probing into the cause of the film competition differed between the two countries,this article bases on the theory of Porter's "diamond model",from five aspects including the production elements,demand,related support industry,enterprise strategic structure and competition,and two secondary factors including government and opportunity analyzes the influence factors of the film industry competitiveness between the two countries.This paper found that although China's film industry has great advantages in film production and projection technology,capital transfer and government policies,there are still some problems such as insufficient development of domestic market demand,failure to form industrial clusters with scale effect,failure of government copyright protection and incomplete film censorship system,etc.On the basis of the above conclusions,and combining the reality of China's national conditions and the Chinese film industry,to enhance the competitiveness of China's film industry,we should fully dig under the traditional culture,the further development of domestic second-line cities and rural markets,strengthen the development of derivatives,establishing film industry cluster and optimize government policies.
