Grammar,phonetics,and vocabulary are basical tasks of teaching Chinese as a second language,what is more important is that to improve students' communication skills,it's our ultimate goal.Discourse marker is one kind of linguistic component in communication that helps speakers organize their words and express themselves frequently and naturally.It has no actual conceptual meaning,but it plays a pivotal role in the conversation.Whether Chinese learners can successfully acquire discourse markers is related to whether they can express their opinions and conduct conversations smoothly and naturally in communication.This article focuses on the acquisition of discourse markers in Chinese by middle and high level-Chinese learners with a Japanese background.The first chapter of this article introduces the reasons for selecting topics,research methods,etc.,and gives a summary of the relevant theories of spoken discourse markers.In the second chapter,34 spoken discourse markers are selected into the questionnaire based on the high-frequency use of native Chinese speaker,and the high-frequency occurrence of 2 kinds of textbooks.The questionnaire is distributed to middle and highlevel Japanese students at Shanghai International Studies University and the Confucius Institute at Osaka Sangyo University.Based on the outcome,we get to realize their use of discourse markers,learning strategies,and metacognition strategies.We set 6 topics and invited 14 students to talk about them,obtaining the recording corpus,and analyze their habits of spoken discourse markers after transcribing the output into text.We anaylize the arrangement and practice settings of spoken discourse markers in the textbook Chinese Listening and Speaking Course and Step by step Chinese used by SISU and Osaka Confucius Institute;We interviewe three experienced teachers to understand their teaching strategies and the attitudes,characteristics of Japanese students when they are learning spoken discourse markers.Then,based on the investigations and interviews above,we put forward some suggestions of Chinese spoken discourse markers in textbooks and teaching.
