The Influence Of Intention Of Violate And Financial Compensation On Trust Repair

Trust repair is an important research field in psychology.Repairing the damaged trust relationship is of great significance to the maintenance of interpersonal relationship and organizational relationship.Previously,researchers used different language repair strategies or material repair strategies to study the effect of trustee on the trustor's subsequent cooperation in trust violation relationships.In the context of economic exchange,the provision of economic compensation has proved to be a more necessary and adequate means.However,there is still a dispute about the effect of different amounts of economic compensation on trust repair.Therefore,we use the dictator game paradigm to explore the effect of different amounts of economic compensation on the repair of trust.In the case of trust breach,the trustor will regard intention of violate of the trustee as an important factor,and will regard the information about the intention of violate as a high standard evaluation factor,in order to establish their trust for later cooperation.Therefore,the intention of violate plays an important role in the subsequent evaluation and influence of trust.In this experiment,we used different words to explain the manipulation of different intention of violate,and divided the intention of violate of trust into clear/vague/non-cheating three categories.In front of our studies of the scholars,on the basis of existing research results,using the different experiment scene,namely virtual situations and in the context of real interaction the repeated verification,and further discusses the different intention of violate and economic compensation to the repair effect of trust,hope to sort out the existing theoretical framework and to further widen the trust restoration research scope.In this study,two experiments were conducted to verify our experimental hypothesis: in experiment 1,427 subjects participated in the dictator game in the virtual situation,and the experiment adopted an inter-subject experiment design of 2(intention of violate: clear / vague)×4(compensation amount: exact/mild/moderate/excessive).In experiment 2,411 subjects participated in the dictator game in real situations,and an inter-subject experiment design using 3(intention of violate : clear/vague/no deception)×4(amount of compensation: exact/mild/moderate/excessive)was tested.The results:(1)after offering different amounts of financial compensation(exact/mild/moderate/excessive),the trust level was significantly increased,but there was no significant difference.(2)there is no difference in the effect of trust repair caused by different amount of economic compensation under different intention of violate.This study draws the following preliminary conclusions:(1)the breach of trust of the trustor by the trustee can be repaired by providing economic compensation through the trust repair strategy of material trust.(2)the amount of different economic compensation does not show different trust repair effects under different intention of violate,that is,trust repair does not produce different trust repair effects under clear/vague/ no deception intention of violate.Our findings can help people better understand the implications of economic compensation to repair trust,effective solutions to trust of different economic compensation for the effect of repair,this is helpful to guide people to adopt a more effective way of economic compensation for effective trust repair,to trust repair has reference significance in real life,but also on the causes of trust to repair a deeper exploration.
