Research On The Effect Of Financial Compensation Strategy On Trust Repair And Its Mechanism

Financial compensation has proved to be an effective trust repair strategy,but researchers still have controversy over the effect of the size of financial compensation on the effect of trust repair.Some researchers believe that the higher the compensation is,the more helpful it is to repair trust more effectively,and some researchers believe that compensating for the effect of trust will have a "ceiling effect." And the effect of trust repair can be affected by a variety of situational factors,such as the initiative of compensation.In addition,existing researches have neglected the mechanism of trust repair.Therefore,based on previous studies,this study further explores the impact of financial compensation on the repair of trust,and validates its mechanism of action from the perspective of cognition and emotion in order to integrate existing research frameworks and expand the range of trust repair research.This study is divided into two parts:Experiment 1 design using the 2(voluntariness:voluntarily/involuntarily)× 4(financial compensation sizes:exact compensation/slight overcompensation/moderate overcompensation/excessive overcompensation),mainly discussed The effect of different sizes of compensation on trust repair,and the adjustment of compensation intentions.The results show that:(1)The financial compensation provided by the voluntarily provided financial compensation has roughly an inverted U-shaped curve;(2)The effect of involuntarily provided financial compensation on the level of trust has no significant difference at each size of compensation;(3)Except moderate overcompensation,the voluntarily and involuntarily compensation have no significant difference in the level of trust repair under the remaining compensation sizes.Based on the results of the Experiment 1,Experiment 2 chose only two levels which are voluntarily exact compensation and moderate overcompensation,and added a questionnaire to assess the emotion and trustworthiness as mediating roles.The results show that:(1)The trustworthiness plays a part mediate role in the process of financial compensation for trust repair.Within a certain amount of compensation,an increase in financial compensation will increase the trustworthiness of the offending party and improve the level of trust repair.(2)positive emotion acts as a part mediator in the process of financial compensation on trust repair.Within a certain amount of compensation,an increase in the amount of financial compensation will increase the positive sentiment of the relying party and thus increase the level of trust restoration.
