Modal adverbs are very important in Chinese adverbs. This paper mainly chooses seven representative modal adverbs in Huaibin dialect of Henan Province as the research object, and describes them in terms of semantic usage and syntactic distribution,by comparing them with the modal adverbs in mandarin or other dialects, the author tries to show the uniqueness of the usage of modal adverbs in Huaibin dialect. This paper can be divided into three parts from the content. The first part is the introduction.Firstly, the paper introduces the general situation of Huaibin county’s human geography and the phonetic system of Huaibin dialect. This paper expounds the research status of mood adverbs and puts forward four criteria to define mood adverbs in Huaibin dialect according to the viewpoint of the academic circle.According to the viewpoint of shi jinsheng, the adverbs of mood in Huaibin dialect are divided into five categories, from which seven adverbs with regional characteristics are selected as description objects. Finally, the research method, meaning, corpus source and style of this paper are explained. The second part is the main body of this paper, divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes in detail the meaning and usage of the adverbs of mood of will “eng”,“eng si” and “Leng si”,compares and analyzes the similarities and differences of the three. They have the same semantic, syntactic and pragmatic functions,so they can be replaced under certain conditions, but they cannot be replaced freely when “eng” modifies the light bare verb.In addition, their sentence distribution, mood and frequency of use are also different. The second chapter describes the meaning and usage of the evaluative mood adverb “two half a year”.“two half a year” mainly has two meanings: accidental meaning and epiphany meaning. Its syntactic position is flexible and changeable. When the syntactic position is different, its semantic direction is also different. This chapter also compares and analyzes the differences between “two half a year” in Huaibin dialect and “half a day” in Xincai dialect from the three aspects of the conjunctions with adverbs, the co-occurrence of the end-sentence participle and the different usage habits. The third chapter describes the meaning and usage of the affirmative tone adverb “Jiu si”.“Jiu si” can be placed in the sentence or at the beginning of the sentence. When the syntactic position is different, its semantic direction will also change.“Jiu si” can modify verbal components, adjective components, but also can modify the number of phrases. This chapter compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between the judgment phrase “Jiu+si” and the mood adverb “Jiu si”from three aspects of phonetics, semantics and combination levels.Compared with “Jiu shi” in mandarin,“Jiu si” in Huaibin dialect can modify the adjective elements, but not at the end of the sentence. The fourth chapter describes the meaning and usage of the inferential modal adverbs “Jiu pa” and “Xing”.They can be placed at the beginning of the sentence or in the sentence, but“Xing” can also be shifted to the end of the sentence according to the needs of the speaker. Both can modify verbal components, adjective components and quantitative phrases; It can also be used with time adverbs, range adverbs, degree adverbs and negative adverbs.Compared with “Xing xu” in mandarin,“Xing”can either answer the question individually or shift to the end of the sentence according to the speaker’s needs. The third part is the conclusion, which mainly summarizes and summarizes the research results of this paper, and points out the shortcomings in writing.
