A Study On The Semantic Transparency Of "adj + N"

The Ns referring to people directly reflect the changes of social culture,and have stability and variability.The academic community pays much attention to modern Chinese referring to Ns.In modern Chinese,the "Adj + N" type refers to a large number of Ns,and its meaning is often not the sum of simple Adj and N meaning.This article uses the term "Adj + N" referring to the N of the person in the "Modern Chinese Dictionary"(7th edition)as a corpus,using the theory of word meaning and grammar,and using quantitative research methods to explore the semantic transparency of the N referring to the Adj problem.There are 5 chapters in this article.Chapter 1 Introduction.Introduce the topic selection background,research status,significance and methods.Existing researches on semantic transparency are mainly qualitative research,with less quantitative analysis,coupled with no objective classification criteria,the research results vary from person to person and are subjective.Chapter 2 Word Meaning Types.Semantic transparency is directly related to the type of word meaning.When the meaning of the word is semantic or morpheme combination,the meaning of the word is the basic meaning and the semantic transparency is high;when the meaning of the word is the metaphor,metonymy,generalization,special meaning and other special meanings,the semantic meaning is non-basic meaning and the semantic transparency is low.Chapter 3 "Adj + N" refers to the cascade of semantic transparency of human Ns.According to the combination of the literal and non-literal meanings of the morphemes in the word meaning,combined with the interpretation framework of the Dictionary,the semantic transparency is divided into four levels: fully transparent,relatively transparent,relatively obscure,and completely obscure.Among them,fully transparent accounted for 24.48%,divided into two types:abbreviated type,additive type;relatively transparent accounted for 36.98%,divided into four types: supplementary type,implied type,supplementary implied type,and additional type;relatively obscure accounted for 23.05%,Divided into two types: partial and fusion;completely obscure accounted for 15.49%,divided into two categories: encyclopedia and insensitivity.Chapter 4 "Adj + N" refers to the interpretation model of the N dictionary and its analysis.Analyzed the paraphrase mode of "Adj + N" referring to human Ns with different transparency,especially a detailed analysis of the "X hand" and the term using animals to refer to humans,and found whether the semantic transparency and core components are "significant" There is a directrelationship between the morpheme and the meaning expressed by the whole word.In addition,there are unlisted entries and common meanings that are not included.Chapter 5 Conclusion.Briefly summarize the main work and innovations of this article,and point out the limitations of this article and the problems that need further study.This study to a certain extent solves the problems of subjective semantic transparency standardization,results vary from person to person or does not con Adj to language sense,etc.,provides reference for the revision of the collection of words and the interpretation of terms in "Xin Han" Interpretation provides reference.
