A Whispering Simultaneous Interpretation Report On Documentary America In Color

With the development of economic globalization,more and more Chinese students choose to study abroad.The United States has rich educational resources and world-class education level,which has become the first choice for a large number of international students.A systematic understanding of American history is essential before going to study in the United States.Guided by Daniel Gile’s interpretation understanding formula: C=KL+ELK+A,this paper takes the simultaneous interpretation of the documentary America in Color for Wang Hui,a graduate student from Heilongjiang University who intends to study in the United States,as an example to analyze the whole interpretation process.This interpretation report is divided into four parts according to the process of this interpretation activity: 1.An introduction of the interpretation task.In this part,it mainly introduces the requirements,background and significance of translation task;2.The process of interpretation task.This chapter is divided into two parts: "preparation stage" and "translation process".The preparation stage mainly elaborates the preparation of glossary and the selection of interpretation theory;3.The analysis of interpretation case.In this part,some typical errors and merits during this interpretation activity are chosen to analyze the influence of three aspects: listening comprehension,extra-linguistic knowledge and uneven distribution of attention;4.Summary after interpretation.This chapter is divided into two parts: the experience and lessons from the interpretation practice and self-assessment and future prospects.According to the summary and analysis of this interpretation activity,it is concluded that the ability of listening comprehension needs to be improved and the ability of extra-linguistic knowledge should be enhanced.Listening comprehension plays the key role during the process of interpreting,which is decisive in the success or failure of interpretation.Therefore,interpreters should carry out a lot of listening training to overcome obstacles.In this paper,the author summarizes the mistakes caused by the lack of listening comprehension ability,and according to Jill’s interpretation understanding formula,extra-linguistic knowledge also plays a significant role in the understanding process.Through the practice of this interpretation,the author also realized what is lacked is extra-linguistic knowledge.By analyzing the whole process of interpretation,this report summarizes the success and failure cases in the understanding and expression process,and puts forward the corresponding theoretical guidance and coping strategies,in order to provide experience for future interpreting practice and improve interpreting ability and quality.Through this interpretation practice,this report finds that Jill’s interpretation understanding formula plays an important role in interpreting practice,and in the future,this standard will continue to be implemented.By this practice and reflection,the author is also aware of the problems and shortcomings during interpretation,and will be trained and promoted in a more targeted way in the future.
