Information literacy is a survival skill that every student must possess in the information-based society.Especially for college students,good information literacy is the prerequisite and guarantee for its successful going to society.The thesis takes the connotation of information literacy and evaluation standards as the theoretical basis,focuses on the current status of information literacy of college English majors,and aims to explore effective ways to improve the information literacy level of English majors.The study adopts three research methods: literature research,questionnaire survey and statistical analysis.It takes 120 third-year English majors from three undergraduate colleges in Daqing as the research object,and conducts online surveys from the four dimensions of information literacy.The survey results were analyzed by using SPSSAU software.The survey results show that the overall information literacy level of English majors in the three undergraduate colleges in Daqing City is relatively low,and their information literacy level is not restricted by gender,but it is related to whether they receive education in literature retrieval courses.This is manifested in the fact that the information consciousness is at the upper middle level,but the information knowledge,information ability,and information morality are all lower than the intermediate level.The students who have received the literature retrieval course education have higher information abilities than those who have not received the literature retrieval course education students.The thesis starts with cultivating high-quality talents suitable for the development of the information society for the country.Based on a comprehensive analysis of the internal and external factors affecting the information literacy level of English undergraduates,it draws on the advanced experience of higher education at home and abroad in the cultivation of student information literacy and combines with the actual situation of the development of higher education in Daqing City,targeted training strategies are proposed from the three aspects of students themselves,school education and information environment.Such as improving the learning initiative,increasing the utilization rate of the network,setting up courses related to information literacy,building an information-based teaching model,setting up the modern education concept of informatization;improving educators' information literacy,which provides theoretical support for the cultivation of information literacy of English majors in three undergraduate colleges,a reference for the construction of Daqing regional education informatization,and a mirror for the cultivation of information literacy of English majors in other areas with relatively backward information construction.
