Research On The Zen Thought In The Legend Of Huangmei Zen Patriarch

The legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch is a folk oral literature circulated in Huangmei area of Hubei Province,and it is also an important national non-legacy project.The Zen thought contained in the legend is a precious wealth of Chinese traditional philosophical thought.At present,the research on this non-legacy mainly stays in the stage of collecting and sorting out the legend content,and there are few special studies on it.The author mainly uses the literature research method,field survey method and text reading method to make a monographic study of the Zen thought in the legend of Huanglmei Zen Patriarch.The research value of this paper is mainly embodied in three aspects:realistic value,legendary value and historical value.Firstly,the thought in the legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch is the representative of Chinese excellent traditional philosophy and culture,which has unique value to real life.Secondly,as a case study of the legend,this study provides some reference value for the study of Buddhist figure legends and Buddhist scenery legends.Thirdly,the paper collects and sorts out the literature materials that record the legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch,which have certain historical value.This paper starts with collection and collation of data through field investigation and literature retrieval.Then the paper analyses the spread background,literature status,main inheritors,main types and main characteristics of the legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch,in which the main types are divided into local scenery legends,custom legends and character legends.The main features of the legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch are divided into the characteristics of history,legend,Buddhist culture,and the fusion of Buddhism and Taoism.Secondly,with the help of philosophical theory and the method of close reading of the text,the paper excavates the Zen thought contained in the legend from following five aspects:Prajna thought,the theory of Buddha-nature,the thought of dharma-gate of non-duality,the view of world entry and the view of language.Finally,this paper discusses the practical value of Zen thought in the legend of Huangmei Zen Patriarch,and discusses it from three aspects:social value,cultural value and psychological value.The social value mainly includes the construction of the socialist harmonious society,the construction of the social equality view,and the establishment of the correct ecological view and so on;cultural value mainly includes the construction of socialist spiritual civilization and the development of social culture and so on;psychological value mainly includes the promotion of people's physical and mental health,the realization of self-worth and the enlightenment to the development of psychology and so on.
