As an outspread to the classroom teaching,English assignments play an important role all the time.However,some research shows that some teachers still use one-size-fits-all model of homework assignments,which reduce students' interest in English homework and affect their English learning.Researchers at home and abroad have studied the assignments a lot.When it comes to the diversified design of English assignments,very few researchers study on a certain number of junior middle school students during a certain term.Based on this background,the writer studies on the theme of the diversified design of English assignments according to her own teaching experience,the theory of constructivism and the theory of multiple intelligences,and applies the diversified design of English assignments to teaching practice.The research objective is to testify whether the diversified design of English assignments can change students'attitude towards English assignments,help students achieve the learning objectives more effectively and improve their scores.To achieve the research objective,the author made an experiment in two classes of her own for a half term and set one as the controlled class,the other as the experimental class.The English levels of the two classes are nearly the same and the students of the two classes are in Grade 8 from Zibo No.1 1 Middle School of Shandong Province.During the experiment,the controlled class experienced traditional assignments as usual,while the experimental class experienced the diversified English assignments.Before the experiment,questionnaires were handed out to the experimental class and the author interviewed 6 students of the experimental class to understand the present situation of assignment design and students' attitude and evaluation to the traditional English assignments.After the experiment,the author conducted another questionnaire for the experimental class and another interview with the same 6 students to testify whether the diversified design of English assignments can change students' attitude towards English assignments and help students achieve the learning objectives more effectively.Before and after the experiment,the author tested the students' English proficiency of the two classes to testify whether the diversified design of English assignments can improve the students' scores by comparing the students' English scores before and after the experiment.By analyzing the results of the experiment,the author found that the diversified design of English assignments could change students'attitude towards English assignments,helped students achieve the learning objectives more effectively and improved their scores.The author also hopes that the diversified design of English assignments can help the other English teachers in junior middle school design assignments more effectively and improve their own teaching skills more quickly.
