Research On Hunan Department Company (1949-1956)

At the end of the 19th century,department stores,as the product of the "Retail Revolution",landed in Hong Kong and Shanghai.With the department stores was gradually on its way to the mass market,their fields which were full of both Chinese and Western culture,make its highly modern characteristics contradict with the theme of patriotic spirits.After the founding of the people's Republic of China,in order to consolidate the political power and stabilize leadership of the national economic,the Communist Party of China decided in 1950 to establish China General Department Company,then set up branches at all levels of major administrative regions,provinces,special regions and counties,forming a state-owned company with the power of unified command and management,so as to play a leading role in the countries' merchandise market.After established in 1950,Hunan Department Company,on the basis of establishing and improving the company systems,made staff and workers hemmed in different rules,regulations,supervisions and inspections,and at the same time,encouraged them to work harder by fostering their collective consciousness,honor them and providing opportunities for advancement.Together with the welfare system,all staff of the Hunan Department Company had a high degree of loyalty and identity.On the other hand,in 1949-1956,Hunan Department Company,in response to the policy and current situation,carried out political or economic movements and various kinds of labor competitions at different levels,making great contributions to narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas and creating national wealth.In 1949 to 1956,the problems at the Hunan Department Company shouldn't be ignored.However,those problems were not as serious as the Western economism said that the productivity has constantly in low efficiency.Generally speaking,Hunan Department Company is a well-run company during this time,including its development and the workers' survival status.
