The Han-Wei transitional Period was the "Human's consciousness" time in the Medieval China, which improved the art's consciousness. Except for the creation boom, art in the Han-Wei transitional Period broke the shackles of the pragmatism and religion, proposed the authors'personality and spiritual practice of the world and the hearts, and the theory of the art creation and appreciation, which demonstrated the modern sense of the basic characteristics of pure art. This thesis intends to study the particular social situation of art's consciousness in the Han-Wei transitional Period, furthermore, the direction of the art development under this particular situation.In order to make the study convenient and accurate, the thesis will define the concept "art", "the Han-Wei transitional Period" and "consciousness" first. The essence of art is the aesthetic feature, so the Criterion of the art consciousness is the aesthetic intention in the creation and appreciation, which is the foothold of this thesis of the art in the Han-Wei transitional Period. Personally, I argue that the art in the Han-Wei transitional Period had been on the stage of qualitative changing of the aesthetic intention accelerated by the social transition, which mainly contributed by the participation and reform of the literati. The discussion divided into three parts: polity, ideology and social custom. First, when Confucianism declined, politics authority lost, officials had to do so-called "humble work" as daily pastime. Because of their innate personality, they naturally tried to rectify the misunderstanding of the Art so as to avoid being named chairwarmers. This is the reason why the status of art arose. Because of their own academic accomplishment and habit they had done scholastic reforming to art, which made art turn away from the technological space. That was beginning of the pure art "art for art's sake ". Second, the literati and officialdom must depend on a relatively systematic theory for the sake of art status, Taoism wellhead of becoming art thought naturally but be popular for at that time. Concepts such as "Xing" "Shen", "Qi" "Yun", "Xiang" "Yi", become art creation and the technical terms for criticizing. Its main impact is that the attitude to art from pragmatic turned around for appreciation of the beauty lying in a silent transforming influence of field, art ontology being just that the first step composes metaphysics transiting from "technology" to "art". And finally, the secular custom, the hedonistic life attitude and the trend of the pursuit of beauty are the important parts of the art spirit in the Han-Wei transitional Period.
