Toni Morrison,an American's Nobel laureate,is also an advocate of feminism, profoundly presenting sisterhood between women in her novel Love.Previous studies often analyze the text according to the process of the generation, disintegration and rebirth of sisterhood, thus highlighting the tolerance and tenacity of women who are under oppression Based on Nussbaum's poetic justice, this thesis explores and interprets the sisterhood in Love by dividing it into three stages:formation, development and sublimation, aiming at showing the purity and vitality of the female relationship and enlightening people on sisterhood construction in realityThe thesis involves five chapters.Chapter ? is composed of the introduction to Morrison and Love as well as literature review.Chapter ?,first of all, generalizes the theoretical connotation of Nussbaum's poetic justice, expounding its characteristics and components Then,it shows the significance of Nussbaum's poetic justice on interpreting sisterhood, which leads to the main chapters of this thesis. In Chapter ?,literary imagination is applied to textual analysis, focusing on the sisterhood between Heed and Christine, which lays the foundation for the follow-up recognition.Chapter ?,with the reader as a judicious spectator.further explains the superiority of this sisterhood in terms of rational emotions.Besides,it claims the practical significance of Heed-Christine sisterhood from the writing background of Love and the current social situation. Finally,Chapter V summarizes the main points of the thesisTo sum up,Nussbaum's poetic justice provides a good theoretical basis for the analysis of sisterhood in Love.Through this theory, elements of utilitarian rational-choice models basically correspond to the crux in realistic sisterhood;literary imagination comprehensively presents the sisterhood that Morrison wants to express to the reader;rational emotions serve as the judgment basis for the reader, clearly arguing the superiority of Heed-Christine sisterhood.
