Nowadays traditional Chinese culture has played a world-wide influence.Tao De Ching which has about 260 translations in the world has been exerting profound influences on the western culture.Meanwhile,it promotes the development of overseas sinology studies.The translation practice report,written on the basis of the translation from the first chapter to the nineteenth chapter of Tao Te Ching:The Taoism of Lao Tzu Explained by Stefan Stenudd,reports the translation process,summarizes the difficulties and their solutions and analyzes the important guidance of parallel texts in the translation practice.The report includes four parts:The first part is the task description,which introduces translation material selection and the purpose and significance of the translation practice.The second part is the task process,which includes the preparation before translation,the planning and process of translation and quality control.The third part is the case study,which is the key part of the report.It lists the translation strategies in the aspects of vocabulary,sentence and text and points out the important role that parallel texts play in the translation practice.The fourth part is the conclusion,which summarizes the gains and offers suggestions on how to choose parallel texts.In addition,the gains and defects of this translation practice is concluded.Through this translation practice,the translator has improved translation ability and understood better the important role that parallel texts play in translation practice.Besides,the translator increases the knowledge about the Chinese classic Tao De Ching.
