The text of international relations features well-argued in logic and concise in language.It concerns the interests and benefits of countries and regions.This English translation is of great significance to reshape China's image in the world.This report is based on the translation of Chapter 5 from the book Inertia of History: China and the World in the Next Ten Years.Written by Yan Xuetong,an expert on international relations and professor of international relation studies at Tsinghua University,the book vividly describes the relations respectively between China and the United States,Europe,Japan and so on.Through reading the whole text and correcting the former translation,the author offers her own translation.This translation report consists of six parts: introduction,task description,translation process,case analysis,task reflection and conclusion.The introduction raises the research object of this translation report.The first chapter,task description,describes the translation project,including its background,original author,language features,text style and inner sense.The second chapter combs the whole process of this translation,which is composed of the pre-translation,difficulties encountered in translating and translation strategies adopted,and revision and proofreading.In the third chapter,the author solves the problems in the form of case analysis,and puts forward applicable solutions,trying to provide guidance for similar situations in the future translation of international relations texts.The fourth chapter,task reflection,introspects the author's gains,limitations of translation and future prospects.In the conclusion,the author summarizes the whole translation practice.The author expects that the whole process of this translation practice can improve the author's translation ability,and meanwhile the translation strategies and methods mentioned could guide the future translation of international relations texts.
