Academic translation plays an important role in the promotion of academic thoughts and academic translation exchanges across the world, thus the study of which bears great significance. On the basis of the theory of text-types by Newmark, this paper chooses an excerpt from the academic work Educational Way of Habitat Ethics as the original text of the translation practice, and mainly aims to discuss proper selection on the translation strategy adapting to the features of academic text. Given full consideration to the particular linguistic features of academic work, the paper argues that flexible application of the strategy of communicative translation or semantic translation can deliver the content of the original effectively into the translation with appropriate form. There are four parts in the paper:Chapter one gives a description on the translation program, including the background of the translation program, the significance of academic translation study and brief introduction to the source book; Chapter two introduces the process of the translation program, covering the analysis of the original text, the selection of the translation strategy and the translation process; Chapter three presents the analysis of translation cases, including the translation difficulties during the process of the translation practice, and their corresponding solutions at lexical, syntactical and textual levels; Chapter four concludes this practice of academic translation by giving expression to the enlightenment of the practice, pointing out limitation of this study and prospect for the future work.
