At the beginning of 2018,with the publication of a new version of the Standards for General English Curriculum in High Schools,China launched a new round of basic education curriculum reforms.This education reform is centered on students,focusing on students' emotions and improving their humanities,and improving their core literacy to promote the long-term development of students.English reading teaching is an important part of the English teaching system in high schools.It accounts for a large proportion of English teaching in high schools.It is an important way to cultivate core literacy of students in English.At the same time,English reading ability plays a vital role in the college entrance examination.The teaching efficiency of English reading will affect the overall quality of English teaching.Therefore,the new curriculum reform puts forward higher requirements for English reading teaching.Most English teachers can recognize the importance of English reading teaching.However,in the process of English reading teaching,teachers pay attention to the analysis of language points and grammar knowledge,and ignore the analysis of text structure.English teachers do not train students' induction,reasoning and judgment.Therefore,the improvement of students' English reading ability is more effective.In teaching practice,although some teachers recognize the importance of English reading lessons,they do not know what teaching methods should be adopted to improve the quality of English reading lessons.With this question,researchers have in-depth research on the theory of multiple intelligences,and based on this,put forward the idea of ??applying the theory of multiple intelligences to high school English reading teaching.The research object of this article is the students in Grades 3 and 5 of the second grade of Fuyang No.1 Middle School.The study was conducted between September2019 and January 2020.The two classes were chosen because they have similar reading skills and have the same English teacher.In the research process,questionnaire survey method,control experiment method and interview method were used.The researchquestions of this study are: 1)Can personalized English reading teaching activities improve students' learning motivation and interest in English reading? If so,how can it be improved? 2)Can the application of the theory of multiple intelligences in reading classes improve students' English reading ability? If so,how can it be improved?After research,this article draws the following conclusions: 1)The researchers found that students' interest in English reading has increased more than before.The reason is that in the English reading class of the experimental class,basically every student can suit their own teaching activities,and more students like to participate in these activities.The application of the theory of multiple intelligences to English reading teaching has played a positive role in stimulating students' interest in reading.2)English reading activities based on the theory of multiple intelligences play an important role in improving students' English reading performance.Students in the experimental class are stimulated by powerful intelligence,and through various teaching activities,they are more interested and confident in English reading classes.Applying the theory of multiple intelligences to English reading classes can improve students' English reading performance and reading ability.This research has certain implications for high school English reading teaching.First,the theory of multiple intelligences emphasizes that teachers should learn to discover and observe individual differences between different students.Second,in order to apply the theory of multiple intelligences to actual English reading teaching,when teachers are designing personalized English reading activities,you should learn to combine theory with the purpose and content of English reading teaching,instead of using rigid teachings of eight types of multiple intelligent teaching activities.Third,you must establish multiple Evaluation model.
