As the society witness its development, ability of English communication has become an increasingly urgent ability target of contemporary college students. The Multiple Intelligence theory holds that the structure of human’s intelligence is multi-dimension and that each person has diverse combination of intelligence and that different combination of intelligence are also differences. And they also support that each individual’s intelligence can be divided into the advantage of relatively combination of intelligence and disadvantages combination of intelligence and different advantages and disadvantages combination of intelligence of individual form the characteristics of the learner’s intelligence and that different intelligent characteristics can form different learning methods and learning process, which will affect the students’ results.Teaching objective of public English of higher vocational college devote to cultivate the ability of learners of using English in the their future work and to intensify the consciousness of cross-cultural communication and to improve the overall quality and to stimulate learning interest, what’s more, it is devote to cultivate their ability of independent learning. Analysis of the current situation and effect of Public English Teaching in our country’s Higher Vocational College is conducted. There are many situations that deviated from the teaching goal, such as the single teaching mode, the tradition and backward teaching method, emphasis on the knowledge instead of the intelligence. The teaching has so little correlation with professional study that does little to promote the profession ability of the students. Because of these, students are not interested in the study and cannot adapt to the learning method. It is the random survey of questionnaire that was carried out on the intelligence status of the students in Higher Vocational Colleges in China. The intelligence status and main characteristics of Vocational Students are summarized by using the statistical analysis software SPSS19.0 to summarize and analyze. The conclusions are shown as follows: first of all, what English learning strategy students prefer above all others are the types of entertainment, communication and situation. Secondly, the linguistic intelligence and mathematical logic intelligence of students are generally low which belongs to the weak intelligence. Thirdly, student’s intelligence of different specialties are reflected statistically significant different. Fourthly, various intelligences of agricultural students are slightly higher than the city students. Fifthly, the students of separated entrance are not inferior to students of the national unified entrance. Sixth, low English level is embodied on the weak intelligence student. Finally, personalized strategies and specific practices of English teaching are put forward which are suitable for the situation of Higher Vocational College in China and based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence. Namely, public English teachers in higher vocational college need to make clear the characteristics of the intelligence of the students through the investigation and analysis, design the personalized teaching strategies in accord with the students in the class, guide the students to develop their own excellent intelligence and perform the knowledge they learned by different intelligence in order to transform the inferiority intelligence into superiority intelligence, arouse the study enthusiasm, making the students enhance the confidence of their own and stimulating students to promote the autonomous learning ability with the combination of the advantage intelligence and the English learning. And finally the goals of autonomous and lifelong learning are realized.
