The translation materials in this translation report are selected from an academic text “Tranlation in Transition: Between Cognition,Computing and Technology(Chapters 3 and 4)”.It is a book on translation,in which some issues related to translation from different perspectives are discussed, such as the cognitive processes in reading during translation, translation strategies, technological application on translation, etc.Chapters 3 and 4 are selected as the source text of my translation project.Chapter 3mainly discusses the literal translation, from the definition to the application.Chapter 4is about the post-editing and directionality of the translation, the key logging and eye tracking technology applied in the experiment. As an academic text, this translation project can provide a reference for translation research, and can also promote academic communication between Chinese and foreign scholars, which is of great practical significance. The translation report consists of five chapters.Chapter one is the project description, that is a brief description of the project background, the source text, and the significance of this translation project.Chapter two is translation process description, which describes the pre-translation preparation, the entire process of translation and post-translation proofreading.Chapter three is the introduction and application of communicative translation theory. In this chapter,Newmark's communicative translation theory is introduced in detail, and according to the type and content of this source text, the application of this theory as a theoretical guide for this translation task is summarized.Chapter four is case analysis.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory, the author analyzes the difficulties in translation from three dimensions: lexical translation, sentence translation and textual translation.Chapter five is a summary, summarizing the gains and deficiencies during the translation process.Through this translation practice, the author has a new understanding of translation research and hopes to improve the translation ability during this process.
