This is a translation project report of Language Testing in Practice,whose author is Lyle F.Bachman and Adrian S.Palmer.The report excerpts from the first chapter of book-Conceptual Bases of Test Development-as the material for translation.The purpose of this report is to introduce the concepts and ideas in language testing,thereby providing language teachers with theoretical support.Under the guidance of Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory,the translator chooses the proper methods to solve the problems in the course of translation.Through cases study,this report analyses the strategies for the translation on proper nouns,pronouns and complex sentences,and also analyses the guidance significance of Communicative Translation Theory to the translation of linguistics manuals.According to Communicative Translation Theory,the translator makes use of some translation strategies like amplification and sentences reconstructing to handle the translation difficulties in the context of original text. |
