The story of Zhaojun's departure is first recorded in the Han Book of Bangu. The main story is about the period of Emperor Yuan of Han Dynasty, when Hu Han ye demanded that "the son-in-law of the Han Clan should be married to himself" and put forward the idea of reconciliation, and then there is the story of Wang Zhaojun going out as a good son of the Han royal harem to make reconciliation. This story has gone through the successive stages of "Qin Cao","Wang Zhaojun's Words","Miscellany of Xijing","Han Palace Autumn",etc. The story of zhaojun has also expanded from historical records and folklore to literary poetry, prose, opera, novels, etc. At the same time, influenced by linguistic texts,Zhaojun's story also expanded from written accounts and oral traditions to the dissemination of image reproduction.Since the Ming Dynasty, due to the development of the engraving business and the flourishing of the culture of the people, the literary works related to the story of zhaojun also produced a large number of illustrated images, the Ming and Qing dynasties alone in terms of engraved books as many as 10 kinds. In these different versions of zhaojun's story, the illustrations are also distinctive and different in terms of character shape, scene composition, etc.Based on this, this paper uses the images of Zhaojun stories from the Ming and Qing dynasties as the object of study to explore the differences in people's acceptance and perception of zhaojun stories at different times in ancient China, and to trace the process and reasons for the changes in the images of zhaojun stories from different publications. That is,the shift from story painting to figure painting and from full-phase to embroidered portraits. At this time, zhaojun's art was not a continuation and development in a closed-loop time stream of "homogeneous" "transmission mold writing" such as "previous generation's powder text"-"subsequent generation's powder text",but an evolution and development in a "heterogeneous" open loop of "text acceptance and imagination"-"drawing text acceptance and modeling".This being the case,it is interesting and meaningful to study the narrative and transmutation ofzhaojun's story images with the art discipline as the primary focus in the literary and graphic perspective. The research of this paper is on plate illustration images related to the zhaojun story in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the main research consists of the following four chapters. The first chapter,an overview of the Ming and Qing dynasties, was published as Zhaoxing Story. This chapter mainly combed the engraving of the Ming and Qing dynasties zhaojun story from the time dimension, analyzed the background of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and introduced the form and content of the more classic engraved illustrations of the Ming and Qing dynasties zhaojun story respectively. The second chapter is primarily an analysis of the illustrated narrative of the zhaojun story.Through the analysis and comparison of the various editions, the stylistic differences of similar characters and scenes in the language texts in the illustrations of different publications are explored, and the prototypes of characters and scenes in the Ming and Qing dynasties are examined. The third chapter is a graphic relationship description of the zhaojun story.Firstly, the graphic relationship of zhaojun's story is traced back, and on this basis, the graphic relationship of zhaojun's story is further examined. This chapter deals mainly with the discussion of how image to language textual content is chosen and in what form the textual content is reproduced by images in the process of image to text translation. The fourth chapter is mainly an analysis of the graphical and literary relationship changes of the zhaojun story. We analyze the phenomenon and reasons for the intertextuality of the graphs and texts in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and further examine the reasons for the changes in the graphs and texts of the zhaojun stories in the Ming and Qing dynasties, and point out the influence of the changes on the art forms in the images of the zhaojun stories. In conclusion, the thesis starts from the pictorial point of view, using the images of the zhaojun stories in different publications as the entry point, and through the analysis of the pictorial relationship between the Ming and Qing dynasties' zhaojun stories,it tries to grasp the basic characteristics and veins of the narrative of the zhaojun stories and art forms in the publications, and then explores the importance of the narrative of opera texts to the narrative of illustrated images and art forms.
