Marguerite Duras is a writer who enjoys extensive reputation in France.Musicality is often seen in Marguerite Duras ’ novels. Both the words and images inthe same work and the themes and structures in different works,musicality can befound. However, scholars at home and abroad haven’t paid much attention to thisphenomenon. Instead, they focus on other aspects of Marguerite Duras ’ novels,such as the feminism,Psychological analysis and so on.With the textual analysis and theoretical derivation methods, we focus on thestructure, themes, fiction characters to explore the significance of Duras ’ musicalwriting.First, Duras used music structure to organize her novels. From simple two-lineparallel structures, double inverted structure, to more complex two-line crossstructure, Duras’s novel structure goes more and more complex, the text becomefull of tension. Secondly, On the themes, Duras used music revelation effect,repeat effects and reverberation effect, making the presentation of theme mildly.Again, on the character of her novels, Duras also use music. Her main characters inthe novel like Raul, Anna, vice-consuls and other characters all have musicalfeatures. Finally, in the conclusion part of this article, we summarized theSignificance of Duras ’ musical writing.
