As an American children's writer,Frank Baum plays an important role in the history of American children's literature.His 14 Oz series of stories,headed by The Wizard of Oz,inherit the creation of the magical fairy tales represented by Frankie in the mid-19 th century,initiate the magical fairy tales of the 20 th century in the United States,and is a representative collection of children's stories in the history of American children's literature.Through the use of “Utopia”theory combined with the research methods of close reading and text analysis,this paper explores the characterization and causes of the construction of “Utopia”in the series of stories of Oz,excavates its modern enlightenment,Taking this as the research route,it attempts to find the theoretical and practical similarities between Oz society and “Utopia”,further explores Frank Baum's original intention of constructing “ Utopia” Oz,and analyzes the profound meaning of the relationship between human beings,human beings and nature,human beings and society hidden in the Oz,so as to find a new way to solve the plight of modern society.As the representative of American children's literature,the study of Oz series stories can broaden the understanding of the works themselves,more comprehensively understand the different status of American children's literature in different development stages at that time,excavate the diachronic and synchronic characteristics of American children's literature,and broaden the research horizon of the study of The Wizard of Oz,so as to have a more complete intervention in frank Baum's writing thought and writing process.
