“Characters are difficult” is the second language learners' first impression of Chinese characters with Pinyin text as the background.The difficulty of Chinese characters is due to the very difference from their written symbols.on the other hand,part of the teaching of foreign Chinese characters did not adapt to the ideographic characteristics of Chinese characters,and did not give full play to students' existing cognitive level.Second language learners with Pinyin text as the background generally have no experience in reading Chinese characters,and therefore lack a closeness to Chinese characters,it is naturally impossible for them to appreciate the fun and necessity of Chinese characters.From the cognitive perspective of the learner,character sense is the comprehensive perception of Chinese characters,including Chinese character knowledge and Chinese character skills.The teaching of Chinese characters centered on character sense training is not the teaching to a certain character,it is a macro-character teaching of Chinese characters,we use it as a breakthrough in characters teaching to foreigners.The training of character sense is divided into two steps.We believe that the first step in training of Chinese characters sense is to overcome their fears,guide them to pay attention to the shape of Chinese characters,and use the characteristics of selected simple characters to make them interesting and understandable.Encourage students to use their knowledge and experience to perform form to meaning association,then use Chinese character theory to guide effectively,help students to establish simple Chinese characters form and meaning association,so as to cultivate their elementary character sense.When students have certain reading exercises and mastered certain simple characters,we will introduce Chinese characters with the same components to connect new and learned characters,and deepen their understanding of the three-dimensional structure and generation system of Chinese characters through component teaching.Students' concept of Chinese character formation and character family concept,so as to cultivate their deep character sense.So we selected 50 story connecting characters,and started a 10-week teaching of Chinese characters at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia.In order to improve our design,we presented a series of questionnaires to teachers at Kongzi Institute University of Malaya,teachers of primary schools in China,and Malaysian Chinese students before the launch of Chinese character teaching.A pre-test of Character sense was also performed on students at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia,and the analysis results were used as reference.After the teaching,we analyze the teaching effect by post-testing the students' Character sense and quizzes of Chinese characters to find that in a short period of time,students' interest in Chinese characters has been improved,and they have a certain Chinese character form and meaning association and component awareness.The teaching design in this paper has certain applicability to the teaching of Chinese characters to pinyin users.
