Blackboard writing is the general outline of a lesson. It is very important for teaching. But as the wide application of multimedia education technology,English teachers in primary school put less emphasis on blackboard design. The design of English blackboard writing in primary schools is facing huge challenges, and the current situation is worrying. Therefore,it is imperative to increase the competitiveness of blackboard writing.Thinking Maps,as a kind of visual knowledge tool, pattern language and new thinking way,is consistent, flexible, developmental, integrative and reflective. So designing English blackboard writing in primary school based on Thinking Maps can optimize teachers' teaching design and enhance students' learning interest, learning ability and thinking ability. It makes blackboard writing truly serve teaching. This study mainly uses classroom observation and interview method.Through field visits to four primary schools,W primary school,X primary school,Y primary school, and Z primary school, the researcher investigate the current situation of common blackboard design and the application of Thinking Maps in blackboard design in primary school English class.By field observation of the blackboard writing in primary school English class, the following problems are found in common blackboard design.Firstly, the content of the blackboard writing is not very condensed.Secondly, the layout of blackboard design is not very organized.Thirdly, blackboard design lacks the f unction of leading thought.Fourthly, blackboard design is not very artistic.Fifthly, blackboard design is not very developmental. On this basis, this study found that usingThinking Maps to design blackboard writing can increase its generalization, organization, thinking, artistry, and expansibility through data analysis, highlighting the advantages of Thinking Maps in primary school English blackboard writing. But there are some problems in the application of Thinking Maps in blackboard design as follows.Firstly, teachers are unfamiliar with Thinking Maps and it is less widely used in blackboard design.Secondly,Thinking Maps is more frequently used in public lessons.Thirdly, doesn't reflect the characteristics of blackboard design based on Thinking Maps.Fourthly, the type of blackboard design based on Thinking Maps is single. The researcher attempts to put forward some suggestions aiming at solving the problem of blackboard design in primary English class. On the one hand, ensure material, skill, and ideological prerequisites for blackboard design based on Thinking Maps.On the other hand, follow the principle of purpose, the principle of paying attention to the development of students' thinking, organization principle, demonstration principle, artistic principle and teacher-student interaction principle. On the basis of following the premise and principles, blackboard design could adopt the following steps.Firstly, study textbooks and find out the logical relationship between teaching content.Secondly, carefully analyze and choose the basic type of Thinking Maps.Thirdly, determine the center and clarify the number and content of keywords.Fourthly, follow the basic principles of blackboard design and construct the first draft.Fifthly, improve and beautify the blackboard design to increase students' interest in learning English. Finally, reflect on the basic principles of blackboard design. On the basis of ensuring premises and principles, there are two types for primary school English blackboard design based on Thinking Maps, including single type and compound type.At last, according to the proposed design steps, different types of blackboard writing are designed for case display so as to provide teachers with concrete and feasible practical suggestions for designing primary school English blackboards writing based on Thinking Maps.
