A Report On Translation Of Technical Specifications For Rehabilitation And Improvement Of Bakolori Irrigation Scheme (Section 6.10-6.30)

With the implementation of the great strategic conception of "the Belt and Road Initiative" and the promotion of the going-out strategy,China's water conservancy and hydropower has actively participated in the development of water conservancy and hydropower worldwide with its accumulated experience and technologies over the years.The number of engineering cooperation projects continues to increase.The main way for these enterprises to obtain international engineering projects is through participation in international bidding.Technical specifications play an important role in bidding documents.therefore,more and more attention has been paid to the translation of technical specifications.This report is a summary of the English-Chinese translation practice of water conservancy and hydropower engineering technical specifications.Based on the register theory,the author selects Rehabilitation and Improvement of Bakolori Irrigation Scheme Technical Specifications as the corpus for case analysis,analyzes the register characteristics of the original text from three levels: field,tenor,and mode and explores the translation methods adopted to achieve the equivalence of the source text and target text.This report is mainly divided into five chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction to the background,content and significance of this translation project.The second chapter is an overview of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post translation review.The third chapter is the theoretical framework of this report,mainly expounding the definition of register theory,the three variables of register theory and the application of register theory in translation.The fourth chapter is based on register theory,using the strategy of communicative translation,analyzing the examples of translation from three aspects: field,tenor and mode.And the fifth chapter is a summary of this translation practice.Based on the register theory,the author analyzes and summarizes the register features of the technical specifications of engineering projects,and uses these theories to solve problems encountered in the translation of technical specifications,explore effective translation methods to improve the practical ability of translation.The application value of this translation project is to provide some practical experience and case studies for English-Chinese translation of similar engineering technical specifications,hoping to provide some reference for the engineering technical specifications translation research in the future.
