| This translation report is based on an translation material excerpt from chapter two and three of Detailed Engineering Design of Khashaat-Khovd Road Project Technical Specification. It is the technical specification related to road engineering design of Western Regional Road Corridor Investment Program- Tranche 2 in Mongolia. It contains the content of road construction with professional words and sentences. This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction of this translation task which are analyzed from aspects of background, nature and requirements. The second part is a detailed description of the process of this translation practice including preparation before translation, translation process, emergency event and work after translation. The third part is the case analysis. The words in this Specification are professional, and most sentences are passive sentences or complex sentences. Paragraphs are connected closely and logically. Based on these features, the writer adopts different methods, such as looking for professional dictionaries and relative passages to find out the meaning of some words, transforming passive sentences into positive sentences or sentences without subject in Chinese, and translating some paragraphs based on their similar or logical contents in accordance with Skopos Theory. The fourth part is written about the experience got from this practice and the hope of future. |
