A Translation Report On"Global Fire Challenges In A Warming World"

“Global Fire Challenges in A Warming World” is a report released on the official website of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations(IUFRO).The report gathers the information gained at the 2018 Global Expert Workshop on Fire and Climate Change held in Vienna,Austria.It aims at raising people's consciousness and understanding of fires and promoting regional and global fire management.According to the text classification theory of Peter Newmark,the translation project belongs to informative text that should be guided by communicative translation.The transmission of translation should not only ensure accuracy,but also enhance the readability of the text.Therefore,this translation practice report starts from these two aspects and discusses relevant cases through some specific translation strategies and methods.In order to ensure the accuracy,the translator discusses from the proper nouns,selection of meaning and the clear reference.To achieve the purpose of readability,this report mainly analyzes the four aspects: method of amplification,use of four-character structure,translation of long and difficult sentences and enhancement of logical connection.This report discusses some translation methods and techniques of informative texts by citing specific cases.And the translator summarizes my own experience in the end to provide reference for the future translation work.
