In recent years,a group of young writers from the Northeast China have emerged in the literary world and become striking new stars.Ban Yu is one of them.Ban Yu's novels often take the Tiexi District of Shenyang City in the 1990 s as the background, aiming at the laid-off workers, the bottom youth and other groups, writing the struggle of ordinary people in the survival dilemma in the process of looking back on history, showing the brilliance of human nature of the "losers".His language is sometimes humorous and sometimes impulsive, which constitutes the artistic effect of the interaction between the spoken language of northeast dialect and poetic language. In addition, because of his praise for the modernist writers such as Thomas Mann,Llosa and polanio,Ban Yu has a pioneer style conscious artistic exploration in writing realistic themes.Based on Ban Yu's novel creation, this paper takes "human's struggle and escape in nihility" as the starting point of research, and under the overall investigation of Ban Yu's novel creation, jumps out of the framework of "northeast theme" and "laid-off theme",and analyzes Ban Yu's characters from a more general perspective. The paper is divided into four chapters: the first chapter discusses how a kind of "Nihilism" was memorized and narrated in the laid-off tide in the 1990s;the second chapter focuses on the analysis of the first way of resistance of the characters in Ban Yu's works in the face of the nihilism tide: persistence and struggle;the third chapter examines the second way of resistance of the characters in Ban Yu's works in the face of the nihilism tide: escape;the fourth chapter points out that Ban Yu's writing is always between hope and despair.
