The narrative of violence in media discourse is usually dominated by men.The classic American Hollywood action movies are always filled with muscular male heroes. In the 21 st century, more and more female characters are also participating in violent narratives,no longer acting as eye candy, but as action heroes.Based on the analysis of some Hollywood film texts in the new century, this paper discusses gender issues in mass media from the perspective of feminism. The thesis consists of three parts: introduction, text and conclusion. The "Introduction" mainly introduces the general situation of female images in the violent narrative of American films in the new century, expounds the existing research results at home and abroad, and makes a brief introduction to the research thinking and value of the topic. The main body is divided into four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the tradition of Hollywood genre narrative from the perspective of genre conventions and gender of American films. In these genre narratives, women are in the state of voiceless most of the time, and only in a few transformative genre films, women have their own voice. The second chapter starts with the consumption of women's bodies in the narrative of violence, and analyzes how today's films cleverly use lens language, character dialogue and world view setting to consume women's bodies. The third chapter starts with the women and identity politics in the violence narrative, and analyzes the identity anxiety of women under the framework of patriarchy, including the identity anxiety of ethnicity, nation and race. The fourth chapter starts with the patriarchal dominant narrative of violence and female images and reveals how the patriarchal discourse is cleverly contained in these violent narrative film texts to achieve the manipulation of female characters. The conclusion summarizes the main content of the thesis. These violent heroines do not break away from the patriarchal narrative pattern, but continue the patriarchy's domination of women, and lists some excellent feminist films. In short, since the beginning of the new century, the female images in American films have indeed become more and more diversified. The female-centered violence narrative is no longer a niche or r-rated subject, but the tentacles of the patriarchal narrative have never been relaxed. We now see female hero to save the world on the big screen, but the patriarchal narrative is a kind of improved upgrade packaging,a kind of romance narrative tradition of male dominance subtle reproduction,at the same time, the demonization of women and feminine of demons, still in the big screenand various cultural fields,to the stereotype that women are not changed in the new century movie, women's challenge to patriarchal authority, finally ended in failure.
