Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Caused Decomposition Of Hunan Acquaintance Society

It has been nearly a century and a half since the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement,but its influence on the modern history of Hunan cannot be underestimated.From the second year of Xianfeng to the first year of Tongzhi,the Taiping Army entered Hunan on three large-scale,and its activities spread to most parts of Hunan.During more than ten years in Hunan,Taiping Army brought a great influence on Hunan acquaintance society,which changed the population,clan,economy,culture and social relations of modern Hunan,and then had a certain impact on traditional acquaintance society of Hunan.This paper is divided into five chapters,the main contents are as follows:The first chapter,as an introduction,mainly involves the background and significance of the topic,the research status,innovation and difficulties,research ideas and methods.The second chapter mainly summarizes the social characteristics of the acquaintance society in Modern Hunan,and points out that the acquaintance society in Modern Hunan is mainly represented by blood relationship,geographical relationship and cultural identity,and then analyzes the development of population,clan,custom,culture and education before the Taiping Army entered Hunan.The third chapter is the framework of the three large-scale military activities of Taiping army into Hunan.It mainly discusses the influence of Taiping Army's military activities on Hunan's population,clan,gentry and other aspects.On the one hand,faced with such sudden military fighting groups,local clans and governments are unable to maintain the normal operation of the acquaintance society,and a large number of the working masses at the bottom of the society join the Taiping army.On the other hand,the war resulted in many deaths and exiles of the population,resulting in the loss of nearly one million people in Hunan Province,and the clan forces were also damaged.At this time,the gentry began to go out of the "comfort zone" to organize group training to fight against the Taiping army,which to some extent protected the security of the clan and the local,and their gentry rights and social influence were further improved,which became the main force to reconstruct Hunan acquaintance society in the later stage.The fourth chapter introduces the influence of Taiping Army's entering Hunan on the cultural and social control level.The war destroyed a large number of basic buildings in Hunan,such as schools and academies,destroyed the places wherescholars received education,and the imperial examination system could not be carried out normally due to the war.The fierce cultural policy of Taiping Army also impacted the traditional religious belief in Hunan.Judging from these destructive actions,the activities of Taiping Army in Hunan actually affected the spread of Hunan traditional culture and shook the cornerstone of the government's social stability.The fifth chapter is to analyze the influence of Taiping Army's entering Hunan on the modern Hunan acquaintance society from the aspects of economy,social spiritual life and social relations.During the more than ten years of Taiping Army's activities in Hunan Province,it caused a large number of population losses,resulting in the failure of agricultural production on time,the interruption of commercial funds,and the poor circulation of commodities,which impacted the traditional spiritual beliefs and affected the changes of social relations in Hunan Province.
